A Welcoming Place to Inspire the Mind

This 54,000 square-foot, two-story facility serves as the main hub for the community’s cultural, informational and learning needs. We are dedicated to improving the quality of life of our users by supporting their life-long learning and informational needs. We do this by offering programs for various user groups in our community, and by providing programs and services to meet the cultural and educational needs and interests of Allen.

Library History

Mayor Gentry Jones proclaimed Allen Public Library Day on October 22, 1967, when the Allen Public Library (APL) first opened its doors as an all-volunteer organization. The library became a city department in 1971. In February 2005, the library opened in its current location at 300 North Allen Drive.
