Water & Sewer

The Water and Sewer Division is responsible for delivering potable water purchased from the North Texas Municipal Water District (NTMWD). The City of Allen’s Water and Sewer Operations are responsible for operating, maintaining and repairing water lines, valves, fire hydrants, sewer lines and manholes. This division also provides field assistance to customers, inspectors and contractors. These operations are housed at the Stacy Road Pump Station.

Water is pumped into the city's distribution system and stored in elevated and ground storage tanks. The City has ground storage space equal to 26 million gallons and 7.5 million gallon in the elevated water towers that collectively provide 33.5 million gallons of storage space.

Sewer Services oversees the collection of all wastewater and its transmission to the wastewater treatment plants. The City of Allen contracts with NTMWD to treat all wastewater generated in the City. This service includes the operation, maintenance and repair of all sewer lines, manholes and lift stations connected to the wastewater collection system.

Annual Chlorine Maintenance

The North Texas Municipal Water District (NTMWD) has scheduled a free chlorine maintenance on the NTMWD Wylie water transmission system and customers’ distribution systems from March 15 to April 10, 2017. The free chlorine maintenance does not affect water quality. The water remains safe for use, though some may notice an increased chlorine taste or smell. Learn more.
