Residential Solid Waste Collection

The City of Allen contracts with Community Waste Disposal (CWD) to provide trash and recycling services. Allen residents are required to use City-provided trash and recycling services. Service begins automatically when residents sign up for water service.

Setting Up Trash/Recycling Service

If your new home does not have trash or recycling carts, you can order them through the Utility Billing Division when you establish water and sewer services. Contact the City of Allen Utility Billing Division at 214.509.4560. Trash and recycling carts are typically delivered within 10 business days.
  • Carts are the property of Community Waste Disposal. There is a charge of $75.59 per cart for replacements.
  • Clearly label carts with your address. This will help identify your cart if it is lost or stolen.
  • If you move to a new address, do not take your trash or recycling carts with you. Carts should be stored securely at the original home.
To order additional trash or recycling poly carts contact CWD directly at 972.392.9300 (option 2). The charge for an additional trash cart is $8.89 and $2.10 for an additional recycling cart. These charges will appear on your City of Allen monthly water utility bill.

Collection Day

Each single-family household is provided with a 95-gallon cart for trash and a 95-gallon cart for recyclables.

Trash pick up is once per week; recyclables are collected every two weeks.

To find your designated trash and recycling collection day, view the Trash & Recycle Guidelines.

Thanksgiving Holiday Schedule

All residential trash service will slide over one day starting Thursday, November 23rd. This effects Thursday and Friday pickup dates. Normal pickup schedule will resume Monday, November 27th.

Service Guidelines

  • All trash must fit inside the cart with the lid completely closed.
  • Any trash left on top of or beside the cart will not be collected. Carts may not be serviced if excess trash precludes lifting the cart safely without spillage.
  • The front of the cart should face the street with the cart’s handle facing the residence.
  • Place cart(s) curbside by 7 a.m. on your designated collection day.
  • Carts must be two feet from the curb and any obstacle, such as a parked vehicle, gas or electric meters, fences, cable boxes and other carts.
  • City ordinance requires trash to be bagged to prevent spilling.
