Allen Public Library is growing! Plans are underway for a large expansion to add up to 45,000 sq. ft. to the current library location. Construction is expected to begin in 2022 with projected completion in 2023.
Hidell and Associates Architects, Inc. is collecting community feedback to help guide conceptual designs for the library expansion project. A 30-question survey is open through August 31, 2021. The survey is designed to take 5-8 minutes to complete. Eligible participants will be registered to win an iPad!
The eight-member citizen steering committee is slated to visit four North Texas libraries which recently underwent expansion/renovation: the Bedford Public Library, the Coppell Public Library, the John and Judy Gay Library in McKinney and the George W. Hawkes Downtown Library in Arlington.
Results of this feedback will be incorporated into the conceptual design of the facility. Floorplans, landscaping and exterior elevations are expected to be presented to Allen City Council by the end of 2021.
